Sealed Housing for E.D.

A SHED (Sealed Housing for Evaporative Determination) is a drive-in test chamber built for the specific purpose of testing the fuel emissions of a vehicle that are not related to exhaust. It is a completely sealed chamber designed to create the conditions specified by the EPA and CARB for the testing of evaporative emissions. Software and analytical equipment to determine the level of volatile organic compounds coming from the vehicle.
A “VT” SHED is equipped for “Variable Temperature”

A “VV/VT” SHED is equipped not only for variable temperature but also for “Variable Volume.” This is accomplished by using Tedlar bags within the chamber so that overall chamber volume can be regulated as the indoor and outdoor temperature and atmospheric conditions change.

An “ORVR” SHED is equipped with an “Onboard Refueling & Vapor Recovery” system. This would also include a Fuel Conditioning Cart as well as a special port through which the vehicle can be fueled without jeopardizing the chamber’s seal.

SieTech’s personnel helped develop and build SHEDs for a wide variety of American, European and Asian automobile manufacturers.
